I Dub Thee King of Anime

Posted by Scrapsies |

After a few hours of playing strenuous badminton, my two brothers agreed that they were both to tired to watch the ass-breaking, 2hr 33min epic, Jesse James movie.

Again I find myself disappointed at their chicken crap decision. Never fear, the couch master does have plans.

The Review of Spirited Away!
Trust me folks, I did a 13 minute oral presentation and I know what I'm yapping about.

Basic Plot - (not a spoiler)

As Chihiro and her parents move houses, they get caught up at some dusty derelict place. Her parents turn into WILD BOARS... well no, just pigs, after greedily eating food at a stall. (they had full intention of paying though!). Because of this, they are unconsciously trapped in the spirit world while Chihiro must find a way to free them *insert adventure here*.

Critique (spoiler ahead)
WOW is Hayao Miyazaki good! The animation was sheer BLISS! No wonder why it beat Lilo and Stitch for the 'best animated film' Oscar! Boy does this rip the intestines out of Lilo!

A common misconception is that anime is for kids etc. But don't be afraid to try this one out, I'm sure that many couch potatoes out there were mesmerised by this film.

Miyazaki's imagination is unlimited! Kanji the boiler man was actually based on a Japanese folklore (a spider god).
All the intricate details in particular, Chihiro's emotions and Yubaba's menace, was animated SO WELL. The baby and the crow are both so adorable!
Combined with the charming plot, this seriously is a good dose of TV for the family!

Rating: 4/5

Movie Madness!

Posted by Scrapsies |

Alright popcorn munchers, I've decided to begin a brand new blog concerning films!

Good
films Badfilms Uglyfilms

I consume one or two popular movies per week so that should suffice (family movie night every Friday and Saturday hooray!). I'm the youngest (17) AND WE'RE NOT RESTRICTED in watching only Toy Story and Finding Nemo. In fact, I got my knees and begged to go veiw Saving Private Ryan when it came out *does VERY quick mental calculation* that's when I was around 7!
I like ACTION, like Arnie's old films and less on chick flicks *cringes*. I love my anime especially the recent episodes of Naruto. WOW are they good.

I've recently done a quick rant on Rambo (latest) here. Yes! I didn't like it and I'm not afraid to get thrashed for it! The previous Rambos were good though! VERY GOOD. So it was quite disappointing.

Tonight's Friday Movie: The Assassination of Jessie James (full review soon inc. plot, critique, personal rating)

All looks promising, however, I will neglect it if:
1. I am the only one that knows about it.
2. I don't eat or sleep because of it.
3. I deem it not worthy of my time.

Teehee
